South County Health recently received two awards for excellent patient care – Healthgrades and Leapfrog – two well respected organizations that monitor quality in the healthcare industry.
Healthgrades
For the third consecutive year, South County Health earned Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award (2021, 2020, 2019).
This award evaluates patient experience based on 10 measures, using data collected from surveys of the hospital’s own patients. Hospitals in the top 15% are recognized as Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ recipients.
In addition to the Outstanding Patient Experience Award, Healthgrades also presented South County Health with the Pulmonary Care Excellence Award (2021).
This award is achieved based on superior clinical outcomes in treating patients who have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia.
Healthgrades evaluates hospital quality for conditions and procedures based solely on clinical outcomes to help consumers understand and compare hospital performance to support their care choices.
Leapfrog ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade
South County Hospital also earned an ‘A’ grade for Hospital Safety from the Leapfrog Group. Leapfrog collects, analyzes, and publishes hospital data on safety, quality, and resource use in order to promote high-value care and help healthcare consumers make informed decisions.
The Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Grade is determined based on:
- Infection rate
- Problems with surgery
- Practices to prevent errors
- Safety problems
- Qualifications and effective communication skills of medical providers
South County Hospital scored above the national average in all categories.
5-Stars - Hospital Quality & Patient Experience
South County Hospital was recently awarded a 5-Star Rating in two categories – Hospital Quality and Patient Experience – by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the only hospital in Rhode Island to earn 5 Stars in two categories of patient care. Read more >
